Development Academy

The Manchester Athletics Development Academy hopes to be a fundamental tool in helping Manchester based children find their feet within the sport before they go onto join an Athletics Club for further training and competition opportunities. The Development Academy in its infancy stage, has helped numerous youngsters to become involved in the sport on a regular basis by having designated training evenings for the varoius Athletics disiplines.

At the start of 2007 the Development Academy is set to become much more talent focused and it will be the most talented children identified from the Schools Talent Identification process that will make up the majority of places within the Development Academy as well as other talent youngsters identified form other programmes such as the Street Sprints initiative.

Further information about selection criteria and training times will be added in the New Year.

 

Sportcity Community Club

The Community club focuses on the introductory level of athletics and at Sportcity the sessions are for 5-11yr Olds. The sessions are run on the following evenings:

• Mondays 5:00pm-6:00pm- 9-15yr olds

• Tuesdays 5:00pm-6:00pm- 5-8yr olds

• Wednesdays: 5:00pm-6:00pm-9-11 yr olds

• Thursdays: 5:00pm-6:00pm-12-15yr olds

Cost: £1.10 per session

No need to register just turn up.
